Spring of 2011, the kickstart recoil spring of my 1970 CL-100 snapped leaving me not too happy. Good ol Mr. Happy came to the rescue: he helped remove the engine from the frame and provided good cheer as we performed a total teardown to get to that hidden spring deep inside the center cases. Mr. Happy’s sunshine attitude ensured that we performed thoughtful maintenance like replacing galled bearings, and replaced all oil seals. Here’s a picture of this little guy helping out on the reassembly phase of the project. Don’t mind that zip tie, he was exploring his inner punk that day.
